Rob Houle
Rob Houle is from Swan River First Nation in Treaty No. 8 and grew up in the Lesser Slave Lake region. He is married into Treaty No. 7 territory, has three children (17, 12, 8) and enjoys spending time travelling. Prior to attending Law School at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops, BC, Rob held positions at the municipal, provincial and First Nations governments. He is a published writer and achieved back-to-back 3rd place finishes in the annual Sovereignty Symposium XXXI Chief Justice John B. Doolin Writing Competition. Rob has also received the Acumen Law Award for achievement in Constitutional Law studies as well as the Dean’s Course prize in the National Kawaskhimon Moot while attending TRU. In his second year of law school, Rob was also named to the Dean’s list for exceptional academic achievement. Upon completing his JD, Rob returned to Alberta and joined Alberta Counsel as a Student-at-Law. After his Bar Call in 2025, Rob has remained with Alberta Counsel as an Associate with experience in Administrative, Family, Indigenous, Corporate and Wills and Estates Law. Rob has also gained experience navigating the Federal Court system.
