Strategic change is about to take place in how municipal leaders need to communicate. The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the vital relationship between municipalities and the people they serve.
We have seen that good communication helps people accept dramatic and inalterable change, at least for a short period of time. But that period of time is about to pass as people begin to seek “a new normal.” A more sophisticated approach to communication will be needed – with more focus on listening and understanding how people are feeling as they make their personal adjustments.
